Emergence of India and China as major forces in the contemporary global economy is one of the most significant development of the past quarter century. Their continued growth is likely to influence the course of the future world economy. The growth potential in these economies has not only opened up new business opportunities, but also new challenges. Unlike the past growth trajectory of the developed western nations, the growth path of these emerging economies has to be holistic and inclusive to maintain sustainability of the society. Newer opportunities are thus creating newer problems seeking more sophisticated managerial solutions.
Managers not only require the functional knowledge about management but also need cross-cultural acumen to conduct business in a highly integrated world. In this endeavour the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management Shillong(IIMS), India and the Ocean University China(OUC), Qingdao have joined hands to design the Post Graduate Program for Executives - Managing Business in India and China (PGPEx-MBIC). After the successful completion of the Second batch (PGPEx 13-14), the Third batch (PGPEx 14-15) is scheduled to start in Oct 2014. The program is designed to provide General Management education in context of the emerging economies, in specific context of the host Institution Countries, so as to uniquely prepare leaders to conduct business in such economies.
